Teaching Quality in Higher Education

Abstract: Teaching quality is a crucial factor within higher education. Research on this topic often requires assessing teaching as global construct through self-reports. However, such instruments are criticized due to the lack of alignment between teacher and student reports instructional practices. We argue that while teachers might over- or under-estimate specific dimensions quality, aggregation these in form overarching well reflects differences teachers. Accordingly, we test ten-item measure allows faculty self-report their based aspects distinguished SEEQ ( Marsh, 1982 , 2007 ). Using 15,503 assessments 889 sessions taught by 97 members, conducted Doubly Latent Multi Level Modelling considering bias unfairness variables model assessed students, simultaneously corrected for measurement error potential distortions assessment situation. This was strongly associated with self-reported (? = .74), which interpret evidence can serve sensible indicators nomothetic research
